SPEKTRUM RELEASE TEXT
Millencolin was my gateway into punkrock music or skate punk as some like to describe it. It was something about the energy in the chords and melody that struck and stuck with me. They toured frequently around Sweden so we could watch them a couple of times per year and that created a kind of fellowship among the other punkrock kids we met at the shows.
My crew was a pack of skate rats and snowboarders tied together by baggy pants, stage dives and home-dyed haircuts. We were never real outcasts but nowhere near to be crowned homecoming kings. As every other teenage crew we tried our luck with our own punk rock bands but never really made it to the big stage with music.
Instead we started to pursue other things that in it’s own way was connected to this thing we nowadays call boardsports culture. We rode our boards, joined the sessions, started our own events, shot photos, filmed edits and kept building our scene with our passion and our love for punkrock and skateboards. We kept paving our own way, just as Millencolin kept pushing their thing with music. Here and there our paths kept crossing and their music always brought me a feeling of being at home, at home with my kin. A mixture of energy and progression that in some ways defined me it’s own two-chord way. It’s one of the pillars of my youth and something that’s still alive within since I was infected with those first riffs. As much as this is a look in the mirror to honor the kids that we once were, it’s also a celebration of the culture we still keep close to our hearts.
This collaboration is a tribute to 30 years of quality punkrock music, the sessions we’ve had, the people we’ve met and the friendships we’ve built!
We at Spektrum salute Millencolin with this limited edition goggle. Only available in 50 pairs, all signed by Millencolin.
